Scarring

Acne scarring resulting from the inflammation of acne blemishes can affect all ages. General scars can occur from an injury following heeling. We offer a number of treatments and medical procedure to combat and improve all types of scarring.

No single treatment is best for everyone. Please get in touch to schedule a skin consultation and analysis for a customised treatment plan.

Acne scarring occurs as a result of the skin’s healing process after severe acne. When acne lesions penetrate deeply into the skin, they can damage the underlying tissue, leading to scar formation. There are several types of acne scars, including atrophic scars (such as ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars) and hypertrophic or keloid scars. Atrophic scars are characterized by depressions in the skin, while hypertrophic scars are raised and can be more prominent.

Treatment options for acne scars vary depending on the type and severity of the scars. Topical treatments, such as retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), can help improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of mild scars. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are procedures that exfoliate the skin, promoting the growth of new, smoother skin. Advanced treatments targets deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and reduce scar visibility. Microneedling, using the SkinPen, involves using fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, encouraging natural healing and collagen formation.

A Consultation will can help determine the most appropriate treatment plan based on individual skin type and scar characteristics.

If you have any specific questions or need further details, prior to booking a consultation please get in touch.
